Play Therapy Skills Lab and Consultation

Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for 3 CONTACT/CE Hours.

Description:

This session will review the tenants of play therapy and present scenarios in which the group leaders and participants will contribute interventions and problem-solving ideas. Additionally, participants will submit questions and scenarios encountered in the clinical setting for support, input and validation. Submissions are to be in writing and sent at least one week prior the training.  

Objectives:

  • Identify the basic tenets of play therapy
  • Describe case conceptualize style for clinical cases
  • Identify treatment dilemmas and play therapy interventions based on cases presented

Sonia Hinds, APRN, PMH-BC, RPT-S is the Founder and CEO of Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars. Founder and Executive Director of Barstow Acres Children’s Center, a non-profit practice providing children's mental health services. Ms. Hinds is trained in Child-Centered and Gestalt play therapy with Violet Oaklander (retired). Authored chapter, Play Therapy with African-American Village in text, Cultural Issues in Play Therapy, edited by Eliana Gil, PhD, RPT-S and Athena Drewes, PsyD, RPT-S.


Niki Picogna, PsyD, LCPC, RPT-S, is also a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor in MD. She is the owner of Bethesda Play Therapy and Healing Center where she and her associates provide therapy for all ages. She is the Immediate- Past President of the Maryland/DC- APT and has been presenting on various play therapy topics and providing play therapy supervision/consultation since 2012.

Cancellation Policy:


Written notification of cancellation must be received in our office at least 10 business days prior to a training for a refund. A $25.00 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund. There will be no refund for cancellation notification less than 10 business days.


CBPS reserves the right to cancel a training due to inclement weather or insufficient enrollment. In the event of such cancellation, you will receive a full refund.

Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars (CBPS) is approved by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor Category I continuing education programs. Social Work Boards in most states accept this approval status. 


LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS

Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars (CBPS) has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 5763. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. CBPS is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. 


SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS 

Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars (CBPS) is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists to offer professional development for school Psychologists, provider #1067. CBPS maintains responsibility for the program. 


CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGISTS  

The Maryland and Washington, DC Boards of Psychology Examiners Recognizes national Association of School Psychologist approval status with CBPS and grants CE hours to clinical psychologists in Maryland and Washington, DC.
