Description:

In the classroom, at home, work, or clinical space like in play therapy, treating angry feelings and angry behaviors in a creative positive way, for children is challenging for educators and mental health providers daily. Puppets and dolls act as mediators, a bridge, a pathway to a force for positive change. Girls & women are generally taught not to feel or express anger, whereas boys & men are generally taught to have only the feeling of anger and to express it aggressively. In the playroom, this tool is a positive and powerful resource for change.

Join us for a ride on the affective play therapy roller coaster using puppets as a guide for moving toward greater emotional intelligence. Please have your own Puppets or Dolls available to use during the workshop. No practical experience is necessary. There will be significant time to practice each of the skills and receive feedback. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recall one experience with a client that was positive and one that was negative.
  2. Describe the RAINBOW COLOR FEELING CHART used by the puppets that is associated with anger, as a tool for growing in emotional intelligence.
  3. Demonstrate with the Puppets a scene of passionate anger and a scene of ignoring anger.
  4. Describe the healthy journey from the sympathetic system to the parasympathetic system using puppets for psycho-education and non-directive play therapy.

Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars (CBPS) is approved by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor Category I continuing education programs. Social Work Boards in most states accept this approval status.

CBPS is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s Board of Social Work, Provider #0122; and the Board of Mental Health Practitioners, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, Provider #MHC-0009 and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, provider #MFT-0008.

ART THERAPISTS
Art Therapists (LCAT, ATR-BC) may obtain CE Hours based on our NBCC approval status.

Approved to psychologists in NY Provider Number: #PSY-0070
Cancellation Policy:

Written notification of cancellation must be received in our office at least 10 business days prior to a training for a refund. A $25.00 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund. There will be no refund for cancellation notification less than 10 business days.

CBPS reserves the right to cancel a training due to inclement weather or insufficient enrollment. In the event of such cancellation, you will receive a full refund. 

Cancelling your Zoom meeting registration does not constitute cancellation of your CBPS session registration. Please refer to our cancellation policy in the training announcement, which supersedes all other mentions of options to cancel your registration
